Private wine experience at Alessio Brandolini Winery in Oltrepò

Oltrepo’ Pavese is located in the southern part of Lombardy and, after Chianti and Asti, it’s the third most important DOC area of Italy (DOC = regulated origin denomination).

This wedge shaped territory between the provinces of Alessandria and Piacenza represents the largest southern area in the Pavia province. The area is delimitated by Po’ river (the biggest of Italy) and Apennines mountains, and it is more than 4.000 hectares, in which the most widespread grapevine variety is Croatina, used to produce Bonarda - since the end of the eighteenth century the cultivation of Pinot Nero started to be largely diffused.

Here Brandolini Family produces great wines since 1873 in a small village named San Damiano al Colle.

Alessio Brandolini will introduce you to the big Italian wines world, with a focus on Oltrepò Pavese. He is graduated in Viticulture and Enology at Milan University of Agriculture and built his experience in Chianti estates (Castello del Trebbio, Ruffino, Frescobaldi, Antinori, Tenuta Bossi), in Piedmont (Fontana Fredda) and in Oltrepo’ Pavese (Doria Estate).

You’ll see the winery and have a tasting of three wines, Il Bardughino produced 100% Malvasia di Candia, Cruasè Rosè Oltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico DOCG and Il Beneficio, red blend of Croatina and Barbera.
