At the highest point of the hill you can see where the first stone of Perugia was laid, centuries before the foundation of Rome. Soon you will reach Piazza Grimana, home of the Etruscan Arch, the most important entrance to the ancient walls of Perugia. This 2300-year-old stone arch, made by the Etruscans on the northern side of the city, is considered one of the first arches in what is now Italy's history and a masterpiece of pre-roman architecture. We will walk along the Etruscan walls, learning about the ancient aqueduct, one of the most interesting spots of the city, with the warm colors of the sunset as a backdrop. 

Make your way through picturesque alleys to reach Piazza IV Novembre, the center of Perugia since the Etruscan period. Here, you will visit some of the most important monuments of the city: the Maggiore Fountain with its medieval sculptures, the Gothic Cathedral of St Lawrence, and the Priori's Palace, a masterpiece of medieval civil architecture.

Take a pleasant walk along Corso Vannucci to reach the viewpoint of the Carducci Gardens, right on top of the huge Rocca Paolina. The fortress is one of the hidden treasures of Perugia, an incredible underground city accessible through a small entrance in Piazza Italia.
