About this activity
When your cruise ship docks at the Philipsburg cruise port on St Maarten, meet your friendly guide for your half-day shore excursion to the island’s best beaches. Enjoy complimentary refreshments aboard your air-conditioned van or coach as you head to Orient Bay Beach. At St Maarten’s longest beach, equipped with complete tourist amenities, you’ll find a wide selection of beach bars and restaurants within easy reach.

Take a dip into the clear waters of the Caribbean or consider more active water sports, such as jet skiing, sailing, paragliding or kids’ activities available (own expense). After two hours at beautiful Orient Bay Beach, your guide will transport your group to Maho Beach, known for its proximity to Princess Juliana International Airport and the planes that fly close overhead.

Settle in at Maho Beach around midday, just in time to see large aircraft arriving at the nearby airport. Enjoy lunch at Sunset Beach Bar and Grill (own expense) while you listen to the live feed from the control tower. Then, watch airplanes loom overhead as they approach the runway, and feel the tremble of the jet blasts from departing flights.

With approximately two hours to spend at Maho Beach, relax in the cool Caribbean breeze or stroll along the pure white sand and get lost in the rhythm of crashing waves on the rocks that rise off the coast. Your guide will transfer you back to the cruise terminal when you’ve achieved official status as a St Maarten beach bum!

My wife and I just wanted to relax on some beaches. And with this tour. We hit the jackpot. First we visited Orient beach. Our visit was May 2019 and they were still rebuilding after a devastating hurricane hit 2 years prior. However, seating was fantastic, facilities great and service better! Next we had a very fun time at Majo beach watching large passenger jets fly over as they landed- so close you felt like you could touch the jets! Again, great restaurants and bars helping to make our visit extremely fun. And, can not forget our tour guide, Tony who answered all our questions and provided free refreshments. For fun and relaxation, you will not go wrong with this tour!

Wellington was the best tour guide ever! He put up with some very drunk people and made the trip fun. Trip was switched from Orient Beach to 2 beaches on the Dutch side due to the Hurricane. Can't understand the reviews of a few who say they were at Orient in January as we still were cancelled in May?? Maho was just ok....Food at the Sunset bar sucked but it was fun to see the planes fly over. Overall we had fun though....thanks to Wellington! Good luck getting that roof on your house!

Awesome excursion, great service and great guide. Traveled with my mom and two boys. All enjoyed it, especially Maho Beach. Couldn't go to Orient Beach due to the hurricane damage, but we were taken to another beautiful beach. Would definitely do this excursion again.

Both beaches were amazing. I wish there would have been more time at each beach because we didn't want to leave. Maho beach was thrilling and made great memories.

We had booked 10 people on this tour and we all had a great time as the guide was fantastic.. Gave us all kinds of unique and interesting information about St Maarten and the recent destruction from the hurricanes.. I've rated it 4 stars only because Orient beach was destroyed by hurricane last September, and Viator never updated us that our trip would not include this beach now 6 months later. We did go to a substitute beach which was excellent but on the Dutch side. Maho Beach and the airplanes were great, but not many planes as very few tourists are flying into St Maarten at this time. On Orient beach, 85 restaurants and bars were destroyed, and because all building approvals have to come from Paris, it was last week before 3 building permits could be approved. Our guide also told us that all the sand was blown off the beach and has just now started to be washed back, but its mostly rocks. I feel so bad for the people of St Maarten because this storm was a category 5 plus no higher rating, but consisted of 185 mph sustained winds and gusts to 240mph. There is destruction everywhere. They are projecting that it will be 5 years before everything will be back to normal. At the airport, they are running arrivals and departures out of tents as the main terminal is still being rebuilt. In any case, if your cruise ship is coming here, I would certainly recommend this tour as it did go all around the island and was very interesting.
