Cycling Tour on Silk Island

Traditional and tranquil, Silk Island is located just 15km north of Phnom Penh, yet a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Famed for its silk weaving villages and authentic and tranquil lifestyle, Silk Island is also the perfect place to explore the captivating Cambodian countryside. After boarding a ferry at Sisowath Quay jetty, you will embark on a simple cruise upstream to Silk Island, known locally as Koh Dach. Once on the island, you will explore the villages by bicycle, with plenty of opportunities to engage in conversation with the local community. The island covers about 10 hectares and fruit orchards, paddy fields, vegetable farms and of course silk production centers can be visited. Also wood carving and pottery making is practiced on the island making it one of Cambodia’s most prominent handicraft destinations. Continuing to explore the villages and home industries. Wooden houses on stilts beautifully rise above the paddy fields and its owners would be happy to sit down with you on their veranda and chat away about daily life. Later in the afternoon, cruise back to the capital and remain free for the rest of the evening.
