Next, it’s time to get back to nature by visiting the farthest Western point of the island, stunning Ganh Dau Cape. Enjoy views of sparkling sea and Cambodia mainland on a clear day.

Now it’s time for a bit of history and culture with a visit to Nguyen Trung Truc Temple, dedicated to the most revered hero of Vietnam, who fought against the French colonialism in the 1800’s

You’ll see fresh cool streams and gain knowledge about the flora of this island. A visit to a Pepper farm is the next stop on our itinerary. Phu Quoc pepper is renowned for being the best pepper in Vietnam and this visit will give you fascinating insight into its transformation from plant to pepper pot. You’ll learn how local people carefully cultivate their pepper garden to produce the very best pepper and of course, you can purchase some if you wish. By now you’re likely to have worked up an appetite, so we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we will visit Ham Ninh fishing village, the oldest village of this island and the best place to get fresh fish. Sao beach, the place not to miss, will be our next point. With its soft white sand and turquoise sea, this beach is perfect for relaxing. As well as beautiful beaches, the island is also famous for fish sauce (Nuoc Mam), so you will visit a fish sauce factory to find out how local people make this delicious sauce. Next, we’ll delve into the island’s darker history, by visiting Coconut prison, also known as Phu Quoc Prison. This terrible place was established during French colonisation of Vietnam in the 1940’s and expanded in the 1960’s by U.S-backed Southern Vietnamese troops it in order to imprison Vietnamese soldiers. There are plenty of exhibits presented in the prison for visitors to learn more about the prison, many of which depict the brutal conditions and torture that were commonplace. For the penultimate part of the tour, you will visit a pearl farm before being dropped back at your hotel. Pearls are one of Phu Quoc’s most famous exports; the sea surrounding the island is the perfect breeding ground for these precious gems. During your visit you’ll gain fascinating insight into the process of oyster cultivation which turns it from simple oyster to beautiful jewelry.
