Stop At: Tennessee Mountain Tours, 849 Glades Rd, Gatlinburg, TN 37738-3201

This tour is a history and heritage tour visiting several historic homes and other sites on the 5.5 mile loop road known as the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. We will stop at and explore the Noah "Bud" Ogle property, Jim Bales property, and Alfred Reagan property. At each of the stops you will learn in depth about the families that lived at each site. The stories passed down from father to son and mother to daughter as far back as 1803. Between each location you will be introduced to the various hiking and nature trails located in the area as well as relevant information on them. This includes learning about Rainbow Falls, the parks tallest free falling water fall. Also, Grotto falls, the parks only walk behind water fall. We will also be making a stop at "The Place of a Thousand Drips" which is one of only 2 waterfalls in the park accessible by automobile. There are stops along the way which are great for folks who love to get a great photograph. We advise packing a picnic lunch or snacks for this trip because there are no facilities inside the loop. There is so much to see and learn in this small part of Great Smoky Mountains that it fills up a good part of a day. This tour does involve walking and getting into and out of a passenger van. Anyone with walking disabilities may want to consider one of our bus tours. There will be a bathroom break at the Rainbow Falls area. We will not be doing any long hikes to the larger waterfalls on this tour. This is a very in depth look at a small area of the Smokies and is especially recommended for nature lovers, history buffs, and anyone who genuinely loves to learn about our local heritage.
