Day trip to Venice by ship

On the selected travel date you will be greeted by a friendly crew in the port where you can order a cup of coffee or a hot croissant upon departure of the ship to Venice.
During the sailing to Venice, the guides will give you an insight into the to history of this wonderful city, the develpoment and fall of the Republic "Serenissima" and explain what is waiting for you upon arrival to the port. Once having entered the Venetian lagoon you will visit a completely different world to what you are used to. Canals are substitutes to roads, boats replace cars, buses, trucks and all other road transport means. Every island and building plays in important role in the mosaic of this rich city. After a slow and scenic 45 minute sailing through the canals you will arrive to San Basilio (before 11:00) and as a group proceed to the city center. Before departing the vessel please make sure you have enough drinks with you since buying water in Venice can be somewhat of a challenge. Hopping into a bar for refreshements can be expensive, but can also mean that you loose your group before the tour is over. A tip: the water sold on our ships is most cases cheaper than in the city center.
Before disembarking in San Basilio port in Venice, the guide team will offer a possibility to book a comfortable sailing from the port to St. Marks square and save you from a 40 minute walk. The boats we use are not the Vaporetto (public waterbuses), but private tourist boats used exclusevly for our guests. The guests, choosing the boat transfer option will be accompanied by an experienced guide who will tell you about the sights while sailing through the Giudecca canal: you will sail past the house of Elton John, church "Il Redentore" (the Redeemer), Hotel Danieli (known for movies such as "From Russia with love", "Moonraker", "The Tourist") and see the magnificent entrance into the Canale Grande. For guests that choose not to book this trip, a guide will walk with you to the city center.
Upon arrival to St. Marks square you will hear about The old and new Procuratie, Ala Napoleonica,Belltower, Clock tower, Basilica of St. Marks, Doges palace, Library, 2 Granit towers bz the water and the "most" romantic bridge in Venice: bridge of sighs (and hear why it is not as romantic as you might think).
After the guided tour you will have free time to walk to the Rialte bridge, to drink a capuccino on St. Marks square... but we suggest you listen to the guides and book the optional excursioons, offered by the team on the ship (all trips are bookable on the ship en route to Venice in the morning).
Departure from Venice is at 17:15 (listen to the instruction given by the crew in the morning hours since times vary according to the regulations in Venice) and sail past the city center and Lido Island and exiting the lagoon the same way we came in. After crossing the Adriatic, well arrive to the port of origin around 20:00 (weather permitting).
