Coba Ruins, Tulum and Cenote Tankach-Ha from Playa del Carmen

1 day
About this activity
You will be picked up from your hotel in Playa del Carmen and head to the ruins of Coba. Once here, you'll visit the tallest pyramid of the Maya civilization and be able to climb it. Learn from your guide about one of the oldest sites and admire the architecture which is considered simple compared to other sites. It remained one of the longest living Mayan cities, lasting until just before the time of the Spanish conquest.
You'll then head to cenote Tankach-Ha. In order to reach it, you have to go underground quite a few meters through a wooden staircase, from which you can jump to the crystal clear refreshing waters of the cenote. After working out an appetite it’s time for a filling buffet style lunch near the pyramid of Coba.
After lunch, you'll visit the site of Tulum. This is one of the best preserved cities by the ocean. To access the main site, you have to enter through its walls and then marvel looking at the cliffs covered with ancient buildings and the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Walk around and learn about how this city was active by the time Spaniards came and it was because of them that it ceased to exist, even though it was one of the last ones to be conquered.
After a great tour, you'll be dropped-off back at your hotel in Playa del Carmen.

I would NOT recommend this tour for the young or older people. It was too rushed we had to take a ride to keep up. the guide was just about running the whole time at Coba and then we spent too much time at the cenote. Tulum was fantastic, could have stayed longer. I would split the tour. Take a whole day at Tulum.

Too much time on the bus! This was a 12 hour excursion with no time for shopping and no time for swimming at Tulum. Lunch was not very good. Swimming in the cenote was fabulous, but getting down into it not such fun. Our guide was good, the bus was clean. Good, but tiring day. Tuolumne was the highlight, for sure!
