About this activity
The Annapurna Base camp trek, also called Annapurna Sanctuary, is the most popular trek in the Annapurna region. The major high of the trekking is the visit to Annapurna Base Camp at an altitude of 4130m.The entire journey revolves around getting into the Annapurna Sanctuary, a natural amphitheater surrounded by 360-degree views of high mountains including tenth highest mountain Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7273m), Machapuchare(6997m), Gangapurna (7454m), Hiunchuli,(6444m) etc. The trail passes through the forests of bamboo, oaks and rhododendron and beautiful Gurung villages of Ghandrunk, Chhomrong, and Dhampus. The landscape is dotted with farm terraces, monasteries, streams, lakes, and rivers. You will also make a side trip to Poon Hill (3210m), a perfect vantage point to catch Himalayan sunrise and sunset and a panorama of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna ranges and much more. You will also be able to enjoy hot spring at Jhinu Danda on your way back. The trekking starts from the beautiful town of Pokhara where you will have plenty of time to relax before and after the trip. The best seasons to do Annapurna Base Camp trek is during Spring or Autumn when there is better visibility with the sunny blue sky.

Itinerary: 

DAY 01: ARRIVE KATHMANDU

DAY 02: SIGHTSEEING TOUR AT KATHMANDU- 3 HOURS.

DAY 03: KATHMANDU TO POKHARA (820 M) by Tourist Bus - 6-7 hours

DAY 04: DRIVE TO NAYAPUL AND TREK TO ULLERI (2440M) , 1-hour driving and 4.5 hours walking.

DAY 05: ULLERI TO GHOREPANI (2860M). 5-7 HOURS, 5-7 hours

DAY 06: HIKING UP TO POON HILL (3210M), THEN TREK TO TADAPANI 2650M 6-7 hours

DAY 07: TADAPANI TO CHOMRONG (2200M). 7 HOURS. 7 hours

DAY 08: CHOMRONG TO HIMALAYA (2800), 5 hours

DAY 09: HIMALAYA TO ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP (4130M), 5 hours

DAY 10: ABC TO BAMBOO (2310M), 6-7 hours

DAY 11: BAMBOO TO JHINU HOT SPRING (1780M), 5 hours)

DAY 12: JHINU TO NAYAPUL 6-7 hrs AND DRIVE TO POKHARA 1.5 hrs

  • Itinerary:
  • Meet you at the airport upon your arrival and transfer you to the Hotel. Refresh and relax in the afternoon. Your guide will come to meet you and give you a general briefing on your itinerary. Later in the evening, enjoy welcome dinner. We advise that you get to bed early.
  • Today you will go out for sightseeing around Kathmandu right after breakfast. You will visit four world heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley, namely Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhu Stupa (Monkey Temple) and Buddha Stupa.
  • Your guide will meet you at 6.00am and take you to the Tourist Bus Station at Kantipath. The ride to Pokhara is scenic as you travel alongside Trishuli and Marshyangdi rivers and through villages and towns outside Kathmandu valley. Upon reaching Pokhara, you will be transferred to your hotel. After freshening up, go out for a short boating trip in Fewa Lake.
  • You will take a cab or private car to Nayapul and commence the trek right away. During the trek, you will traverse Birethanthi, Modi River, and Thikhedhunga, cross two suspension bridges, climb about 3000 steps to reach the lodge at Ulleri, where you stay overnight. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
  • Resume trekking right after breakfast. Annapurna South and Hiunchuli peaks are visible if the weather is clear. Our trail gradually ascends and traverses dense forests of rhododendron and oak, and the villages of Banthanti and Nangethani. We spend the night in a lodge in upper Ghorepani village, near the ridge where we have beautiful panoramic views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges.
  • Wake up early enough and hike with a torchlight and warm clothes on for about 1.5 hours to get to Poon Hill (3210m), an ideal spot to see panoramic views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges at sunrise. About an hour later, we descend to the lodge for breakfast and resume trekking to Tadapani (2650m), from where Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre peaks can be seen. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.
  • Today, we go downhill for 2 hours, cross a small stream and then gradually climb through the Gurung settlement of Gurung. After reaching Chhomrong we will relax for rest of the day. Chhomrong is a bigger settlement of the Gurung community. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
  • After enjoying the view from Chomrong at sunrise and having breakfast, we resume trekking to Himalaya Hotel via Bamboo and Dovan. The trail passes through a deep gorge and along the banks of Modi River. You may spot some wildlife including monkeys and Himalayan goats en route. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.
  • Resume trekking after an early breakfast and head towards our final destination Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). You will be overwhelmed by the beauty of snow-capped mountains. all around you. In the afternoon, go for a closer view of Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna Glacier, Annapurna South (7200m), Hiunchuli (6444m), Machhapuchhre (6793m) and Annapurna III. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.
  • Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the magnificent view at sunrise. Take photos while the sun's rays hit the Himalayas. Then have breakfast and start descending to Bamboo, losing about 2000 meters in altitude in just 6-7 hours. Spend the night in a local guesthouse. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.
  • Leaving Bamboo behind, climb for 30 minutes to reach Khuldighar, the site of an experimental sheep. The trail then gradually ascends at first, remains flat for some time and goes downhill again until you reach Sinuwa and cross Chhomrong River. It then ascends up to Chhomrong Village and descends very steeply for 1 hour all the way to the village of Jhinu. Drop your bags at your lodge and go for a refreshing bath in the nearby hot spring. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.
  • Today is the last day of our ABC trek. Leaving Jhinu, we firstly descend, cross the river and continue along the trail that remains almost flat all the way to Birethanti and heads to Nayapul. We then ride the already waiting car/van and get back to Pokhara. After checking into your hotel, you can spend the rest of the evening in the Lakeside area. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.
  • You can either drive back to Kathmandu or alternatively take a 30 min flight at an additional cost. You can relax in the evening and even take a walk through the streets of Thamel for shopping. To celebrate your successful journey to Annapurna Sanctuary, we will take you out for a memorable farewell dinner in Kathmandu tomorrow evening.
  • Check out from the hotel, we transfer you to the airport about 3 hours before your plane takes off. We will bid a warm farewell in our own Nepali style and wish you a safe and comfortable onward journey.

  • From Pokhara, you will have to drive for an hour by private transport the starting point of trek, Naipaul. Almost all routes end in Nayapul, from where you will catch transport back to Pokhara. You can take a jeep before Nayapul and cut off the first day of the trek if you have limited time.
