Annapurna Base Camp Trek

11 days
About this activity
DAY 1: Kathmandu Arrival
Airport pickup, hotel transfer and enjoy welcome dinner.
DAY 2: Fly to Pokhara (827m), trek to Ghandruk (1940m) 30 mins flight, 5-6 hrs trek
After landing in the Pokhara airport early morning, we drive to Naya Pul (1 hr20 mins) & start the trek. From Birethanti, we trek to Ghandruk. If time permits, we also visit the Gurung museum.
DAY 3: Ghandruk-Chhomrong (2170m) 5-6 hrs
At this juncture, we climb up for around an hour up to Kimrungdanda. A steep descent takes to the Kimrong Khola. After another steep ascent from Kimrong Khola to Chere Danda, we descend for a while and then it’s a gentle walk to Chhomrong.
DAY 4: Chhomrong-Bamboo (2310m) 4-5 hrs
We descend via 2500 stone steps and cross the bridge above Chhomrong Khola. From here it is an uphill climb to Sinuwa. Next, we pass through a beautiful forest to Kuldihar followed by an easy downhill walk to Bamboo.
DAY 5:
 Bamboo-Deurali (3230m/10,595ft): 3 - 4 hours
We pass through a bamboo forest then ascend steadily with a few steep sections. It is a steep climb up through a forest before reaching Hinku Cave. From here we can see the trail drop closer to the river before climbing again to Deurali.
DAY 6:
 Deurali-Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) via Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3700m) 5- 6 hrs
Climb through a river bed then over a steep trail over to the mountain side. The hike from Bagar to Machhapuchhre Base Camp is somewhat strenuous. The vegetation disappears on our way to ABC and the path widens as we enter the Annapurna sanctuary. The sanctuary boasts of a dynamic view without anything impeding the 360-degree panorama. From the base camp we get views of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli & other peaks.
DAY 7: Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo 7–8 hrs
From the Annapurna base camp we retrace our steps to Bamboo.
DAY 8:
 Bamboo-Jhinu Danda (1760m) 5-6 hrs
From Bamboo, it is an uphill trek to Kuldighar followed by a downhill walk to Chhomrong Khola. Then we climb the stone steps to Chhomrong. The trail then descends to Jhinu Danda. Enjoy the hot springs which is just a 15-20 min descend from Jhinu Danda.
DAY 9:
Trek to Naya Pul, drive to Pokhara: 6 hrs trek, 1 hr drive
Our trek will end at Naya Pul where we board our vehicle to Pokhara. If the road construction connecting Jhinu Danda to Naya Pul is complete, driving from Jhinu Danda to Pokhara could be another option.
DAY 10:
 Fly to Kathmandu
Rest day at Kathmandu. Enjoy Farewell Dinner.
DAY 11:
 Final Departure
Escort to the airport approx.3 hours before your flight schedule.

Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at lower elevation but it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations.

Breakfast and dinner will be served from the tea-houses or from a lodge menu where we spend the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available while in Kathmandu and Pokhara. There will also be welcome and farewell dinners for guests.
  • You are likely to walk for 6-7 hours each day over steep hilly terrain on usually rough trails but no real extremes of weather. Moderate trails entail reaching up to 5500m with daily ascends of around 400-700m. You will also be facing high altitude air with low level of oxygen on some days and are therefore required to have a positive attitude and be physically fit. Previous hiking or camping experience is preferable.
  • Autumn (Sept. to Nov.) and Spring (March to May) are the best seasons for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The weather is sunny and warm with outstanding views. If you wish to avoid crowds and enjoy some alone time with nature then taking this trip during winter (Dec., Jan. and Feb.) could also be an option. However, the temperature during winter could be harsh for most guests. Trekking in the Summer or Monsoon seasons (June to Aug.) will be affected by rain but the Summer trek could be a boon for a keen botanist.
  • Your safety is of paramount concern while traveling with Himalayan Glacier. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary; however, since this adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not deviate from it. Weather conditions, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.

  • Not recommended for pregnant travelers
