Stop At: Pompeii - Archaeological Area., Porta Marina Superiore (Via Villa dei Misteri) Piazza Immacolata, Piazza Porta Marina inf., 80045 Pompeii Italy

The visiting of one of the most beautiful archaeological site of the world can be done by yourself or with a Certified Tour Guide for an extra cost. The city of Pompeii was destroyed and buried by the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in 79 a.d. The eruption buried Pompeii under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of ash and pumice, and it was lost for nearly 1700 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1749. Since then, its excavation has provided an extraordinarily detailed into the life of a city to the height of the Roman Empire. A walk inside the excavations, through the perfectly preserved bath theatres, temples, markets and forums will bring you back into the lives of ancient Romans.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Sorrento Lift, Piazza Francesco Saverio Gargiulo Villa Comunale, 80067, Sorrento Italy

From Pompeii we take a drive along the wonderful coastal road to Sorrento. You will enjoy superb view of the Bay of Naples, and the Island of Capri is revealed as the Amalfi coast road emerges from over the mountain top, driving along winding country roads bordered with lemons, olive threes and bouganvilles. In ancient time, Sorrento was famous for its wine (oranges and lemons which are now widely cultivated there were not yet introduced in Italy in antiquity) its fish, and its red campanian vases.

This is what you can admire once you will be dropped off for some lunch in a typical restaurant suggested by your driver and a little stroll down the main shopping streets. Don’t forget to taste the ultra famous Limoncello, liquor digestif made from lemon rinds, alchol water and sugar.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Positano Boats, Via del Brigantino 19, 84017, Positano Italy

You will then proceed along the Amalfi coast to Positano, where a picture postcard comes to life, a patchwork of flat and domed roofs and vine-covered stairways tumbling down to meet the gentle curve of the beach. Enjoy time at leisure to explore this elegant spot with its designer boutiques, shops and seaside cafes. You can visit the church of Santa Maria Assunta with its dome made of majolica tiles as well as a 13th century Byzantine icon of a black Madonna.

After having satisfied all your expectations you can be driven back home!

We had a wonderful trip visiting Pompeii, Positano, and the Amalfi Coast. Our guide, Marco, was excellent - he was very nice, knowledgeable, interactive, and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great experience. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rome that is interested in exploring the Amalfi Coast with limited time availability.
