Limoncello 2 Days Tour

See the highlights of Southern Italy on this 2 day excursion from Rome. The multi-lingual tour guides will pick you up from your hotel or meeting points and begin the journey by driving south on the A1 “Highway of the Sun” towards Naples. Along the way, you’ll pass by the Castelli Romani, a picturesque Roman countryside area with many medieval era villages. After about a 2 hour drive, you will arrive in Naples and go on a short hike up the Vomero Hill for a commanding view of the Gulf of Naples, the city, and Mount Vesuvius. Once you have taken in the scene, head down to the Naples marina district of Mergellina for a stroll by the seaside. Afterwards, it’s time for lunch at the village of Ercolano at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. Following lunch, head up to the ancient city of Pompeii and witness the petrified Roman city as it was in the days of the Empire. You’ll be able to skip the ticket and entrance queues with your fast track admission. Head straight in and wander among the ruins while listening to the audio guide describe Roman life in ancient times. In the late afternoon, you will leave Pompeii and head for the coastal town of Sorrento along the Sorrentine Coast, winding along breathtaking cliffs above the Mediterranean Sea. Make sure to bring a jacket on this trip for dinner in Sorrento, where you can finish your evening with a Limoncello di Sorrento, a locally produced lemon liquor commonly taken after dinner in Italy. You will stay overnight in the town at a 4 star hotel and will be able to explore the area at your leisure the next day before returning to Rome. Consider visiting the Almafi Coast or the Island of Capri on your second day with optional excursions that are not included with the tour, but are great places to visit while you are in the south of Italy.
