On August 24, 79 AD, Vesuvius erupted, burying the nearby town of Pompeii in ash and pumice, killing around 3,000 people, and preserving the city in its state from that fateful day. The city of Pompeii, today a real open- air museum, has been preserved in detail. You’ll learn about the everyday life of an industrious Roman city as it was before the eruption of the Vesuvius: the most popular crafts, what they ate and what they did for fun. You’ll see all of the most famous Pompeiian sites, including the Forum, the Baths, temples and houses of the people, bakeries, restaurants, as well as the more risky side... Along the way enjoy breath-taking frescos, amazing mosiacs and and the body casts.e.
