2-hour Private Guided Tour of Pompeii

Some places you visit and it doesn’t really matter if you just walk around, take the audio tour, get a group tour, or get a private guide. Pompeii is absolutely one where you MUST get a private guide! Our guide Alessandra was absolutely fantastic and her stories and fine details transported us back in time. Sure other people “visited” Pompeii that day, but we EXPERIENCED it as if we were citizens of the grand city leading up to that fateful day in 79 AD. This tour made the entire trip worthwhile! Btw - the big umbrella and water bottles we brought from town were essential too (it was very hot), just a tip!

Although this tour was good for an overview of the site, I think you may be able to get as much or possibly more information from doing the audio guides instead. Unfortunately our guide had a very strong accent making her quite hard to understand and she went into too much detail on some things. All of us would've liked to have seen more of the site than we did - I'm not sure if the audio tour would've been better but in hindsight we would do this instead - at a minimum I'm sure the english on the audio tapes would be better and there would be no risk of getting a guide that you struggle to understand, and you can always fast forward on the tape if it's something you're not interested in hearing.

Our tour guide was amazing! she was tremendously positive, knowledgeable and she valued our time tremendously. she connected with my 16 and 13 year old so they could engage with Pompeii. Although it was a little pricey for four people, she was what made Pompeii come alive for us! She was so engaging we had people ask if they could join our tour :
