Hell's Fire Tour

Step into another dimension with this walking tour on Hell´s Window dirt trail: with tunnels, Jurassic vegetation and majestic scenery waiting to be seen, this trail is also part of the Azorean past history... With a mandatory stop for a rejuvenating hot bath in the natural pools of Caldeira Velha before an Azores lunch, you will also have the opportunity to see one of most beautiful places in São Miguel island: Lagoa do Fogo, or “Fire Lake” the 2nd largest lake on the island, that’s situated in an unspoiled natural area. With tracks that are lined by native flora the entire area was classified by the European Commission as a Special Area of Conservation and part of the Natura 2000 network. Our way back to Ponta Delgada will be made through an adventurous dirt trail that will finish in Ribeira Grande, the city on the island where you can find the most buildings with the "Manuelino" architectural Portuguese style.
