The tour begins with a picturesque one hour van tour from the Port Angeles waterfront, around the shores Lake Crescent on Highway 101, and deep into the Sol Duc River valley. The drive will highlight the most stunning attributes of Olympic National Park including a glacier-fed lake, towering mountains, rushing rivers, and a temperate old-growth forest. Our first stop is at the Lake Crescent Lodge, where we allocate 20-30 minutes for our picnic lunch (available for purchase) and a restroom break before our guided hike.
Our Olympic Hiking Co. guide will drive the group to the trailhead for our guided hiking tour of Sol Duc Falls, one of the top waterfalls in Olympic National Park. Our guide will lead the group on the beautiful one-mile trail through massive old-growth forests until reaching the rustic nature bridge that crosses the Sol Duc River. There, we will feel the mist in the air and enjoy an incredible view of the mighty Sol Duc Falls. After exploring the various viewpoints, the group will return on the one-mile trail back to the trailhead, spending about 60-90 minutes on the trail and at the viewpoints.
Throughout the tour, our Olympic Hiking Co. guide will discuss the park’s natural history, flora and fauna, and identify landmarks. Overall, the group will have approximately 2 hours to visit the Sol Duc River Valley pending road and weather conditions.
