About this activity
Situated nine miles (15 kilometers) north-east of Port Douglas, Low Isles is a coral cay surrounded by 55 acres of reef. The sandy beach and clear, calm lagoon waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Low Isles is well-known for its population of green turtles, keep an eye on the surface as they regularly pop up for air. Occasionally dugongs can be seen grazing on sea grass and large rays may glide by.

During the cruise to Low Isles, a Marine Biologist will conduct an informative talk on the fish and corals you will see, as well as providing details on the activities available throughout the day. The 30 meter luxury sailing catamaran offers the excitement of big ship sailing combined with the ultimate in comfort. Relax in the luxurious air-conditioned lounge with fully licensed bar, or soak up the sun under the sails on the expansive deck.

On arrival a shuttle will take you from the boat to the island, or you can dive straight in and swim to the beach!

You'll have the opportunity to join an organized snorkel tour led by a marine biologist, or take to the water independently and explore at your leisure. Snorkeling equipment is provided and the friendly crew are on hand to help you get started.

You don't have to get wet to enjoy a day at Low Isles. You can join a glass bottom boat tour over the soft coral gardens that surround Low Isles. Your guide will point out giant clams, a variety of fish and corals, and of course be on the lookout for turtles. On land you may like to join a guided beach walk around the small island. Learn about the flora and fauna of the island along with the history of Low Isles as an important place of marine research.

We went on the day tour the celebration of my friends 60th with 4 of us having an amazing day. The weather was perfect, the crew amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. The food was good, the island is small and charming. A great day all round. Would definitely recommend.

The tour was OK, the weather wasn't great but the island is beautiful and the coral reef is amazing. The staff were helpful and the lunch was great. There are a few things that I didn't enjoy with this tour, the boat filled to capacity so nowhere to sit, you have to shuttle to the boat for lunch so we only had 45 mins to snorkel and walk/see the island, felt rushed plus have to wait with the other 150 people to get on a 16 person shuttle. Overall I was disappointed but glad I visited the island.

The overall trip wasn't that bad....the crew on our boat were great, the trip to the reef was good however, we had a very very low tide on the day we went to the Low Isles so we couldn't really see much coral....disappointed to say the least!

This trip was excellent - once we arrived at the Low Isles. Unfortunately it was very windy and many people suffered with sea sickness, including me! However, once we arrived at the Low Isles, the trip improved. Our lunch was very good and very plentiful. The sea was rather cloudy because of the weather but we managed to see some coral from the glass bottomed boat. We had a tour round the island before boarding the boat for our return. Although the sea was still quite choppy on the way back no one suffered with sea sickness. Another excellent trip.

All good, but very hot in November. Unfortuantly once you go to the outer reef, do a cruise looking at the crocidiles , there is not much else except if your wife likes fishing. On a positive note, all the restuarents and pubs sold good food at reasonable rates.
