Accommodation
For the duration of your tour, accommodation will be in 3 or 4 star guesthouses or B&Bs, with breakfast included.
Tour route and highlights
During your 5-day Garden Route tour we will travel along the national freeway from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town. As we will be travelling as a private group, you have the luxury of adjusting your itinerary each day, in order to experience the most of this beautiful area, and to be stress free from keeping to an exact schedule.
Day 1
Guests will be met at the airport or their accommodation in Port Elizabeth by your friendly driver guide. From there your trip will take you along the N2, to the stunning Tsitsikamma area. Based on our departure time from Port Elizabeth (eg. Flight arrival time) we will possibly turn off the main road, and visit Jeffrey’s Bay, one of the top surfing destinations in the world.
Day 2
We will spend the day exploring the Storms River area, with the main portion of the day being spent in the Tsitsikamma National Park. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the natural beauty of the rugged coast line, and keep your eyes open for whales who like to frequent the waters of this area.
Optional Extras: Bungee Jumping, Zip lining, Kayaking, Tubing, Forest Walks,
Day 3
After breakfast, we will travel via Plettenberg Bay, Knysna and Sedgefield to Wilderness. Along the way we will visit beautiful view points like the well-known Knysna Heads
Optional Extras: Animal Sanctuaries (Monkey Land, Birds of Eden, Jukani, Knysna Elephant Park), Kayaking.
Day 4
We will travel across the Outeniqua Mountains and into the Klein Karoo to the historic town of Oudtshoorn. The Klein Karoo is a semi desert area and a stark contrast to the green woods we will see in the Garden Route.
Oudtshoorn is known for its Ostrich Farming, and for meat lovers there will be ample opportunity to try some ostrich. No visit to Oudtshoorn is complete without a stop at the Cango Caves with its beautiful rock formations.
Optional Extras: Visit an Ostrich farm, Visit the Cango Caves, Driving the Swartberg Pass.
Day 5
On our last day we will travel to Cape Town. As there are a few routes available, your guide will choose the route that is best for you, based on where you will need to be dropped off in Cape Town.
It will be a day of travel, however your guide will make stops along the way for photo opportunities and to stretch legs. Your guide will safely take you to your accommodation in Cape Town where your wonderful Garden Route tour will end.
