About this activity
Horse racing was introduced in Mauritius in 1812. Champ de Mars, which is located in Port Louis, is one of the oldest race course in the Southern Hemisphere. The races normally take place on Saturdays and sometimes on Sundays, depending on the Mauritius Turf Club Calendar. There are 8 races per day and they are run every 35 minutes. We would also like to introduce you to the amazing Crown Lodge. The lodge has a unique perspective on the Champ de mars. Located on the VIP balcony, next door to the president of the Mauritius Turf Club: it is a strategic location which allows a magnificent view on the finish line and the « paddock ».
A drink at entrance; Free open bar and snacks from 12 noon to 5pm. You can bet directly in the lodge up to the last minute. You can meet the local trainers, owners, jockeys visiting the Crown Lodge. A TV provides you on line key information such as horses' handicaps and the betting odd.
11:15am - 12:15pm - Pick up at the hotel in a private car with English/French-speaking driver-guide. Drive to Port Louis Capital city and then continue on to see the Horse Racing at Champ de Mars (Crown Lodge).
Around 4:45pm transfer back to the hotel in private car with English/French-speaking driver-guide.
