Speedboat Tour of Ile aux Cerfs including Snorkelling in Blue Bay and Grand River South East Waterfall

6h30
About this activity
This speedboat tour is truly a unique excursion in which you will have the chance to explore a total of four islands, including the world-famous Ile aux Cerfs, snorkel in the most pristine waters of Mauritius, and see a waterfall empty directly into the ocean.

Start the day snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of Blue Bay Marine Park and discover the abundance of colorful tropical fish, including trumpet fish, diverse coral formations and other marine creatures that call this park home (snorkeling gear provided). Blue Bay is known to have the bluest (hence the name) and some of the clearest waters on the island, and is well-known to be the best spot for snorkeling in Mauritius.

You will then zip off to Ile de la Passe and Ile au Phare where you will be able to view the ruins of old buildings, including a prison, dating back to 200 years! You will stop at Ile au Phare and have some time to visit the island, which is a photographer’s dream. It has an abandoned lighthouse, beautiful cliffs where you can see powerful waves crashing against the rocks.

Hop back on the speedboat and jet over to Grand River South East waterfall. On the way, if you're lucky, you will be able to see monkeys playing in the trees. Watch for Mauritian fruit bats in the branches of some of the highest trees. Photograph the Grand River South East waterfall emptying into the ocean. Your skipper will offer you a drink and you’ll be on your way again!

You will head to the wild side of Ile aux Cerfs for a delicious barbecue lunch, prepared and served right on the beach in the shade of the casuarina trees.

Lunch Menu on Ile aux Cerfs:

Barbecue: chicken, fresh fish, lobster (250g) or scampi (400g), bread, rice, mixed salad
Dessert: flaming bananas
Drinks: red, rosé, and white wine, beer, rum, Coca Cola, fruit juice, mineral water

After that you will head to the postcard-perfect side of Ile aux Cerfs where you can spend an hour lazing in the sun on the golden sand beaches. There are other activities on the island that you can partake in once you’re there, including parasailing.

Finish off your day by going for a dip near the Ile aux Aigrettes, an island that has been converted into a nature sanctuary to preserve many of the endemic species in Mauritius.
