Pass By: Pioneer Courthouse Square, 701 SW 6th Ave Broadway between Morrison and Yamhill, Portland, OR 97204-1410

Pioneer Courthouse Square, located in the heart of Downtown Portland, is a public space hosting more than 300 programmed events each year. With more than 26,000 people visiting the Square each day, it is the single most visited site in the city. The Square’s features include the Waterfall Fountain, built of granite; sixteen columns with classical pillars topped with carved yellow roses on which crawl pink-and-green spotted bugs; and two brick amphitheaters which provide seats for events.

Stop At: Pittock Mansion, 3229 NW Pittock Dr, Portland, OR 97210-5099

Built in 1914, Pittock Mansion tells the story of Portland’s transformation from pioneer town to modern, industrialized city through the history and legacy of one its most influential families, the Pittocks. Saved from demolition by dedicated citizens in 1964, the Mansion and surrounding estate was purchased by the City of Portland and opened to the public as a historic house museum.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: International Rose Test Garden, 400 SW Kingston Ave, Portland, OR 97205-5883

One of the city’s signature landmarks, located in beautiful Washington Park, Portland’s largest official rose garden is home to more than 10,000 roses including 650+ rose varieties. From May through October, you can stroll amongst the lovely blooms, breathe in the delightful smells, and enjoy the spectacular views of downtown and Mount Hood.

Duration: 20 minutes

Pass By: Northwest (Nob Hill), Northwest 23rd Avenue and Northwest 21st Avenue NW Everett St to NW Thurman St, Portland, OR 97210

The neighborhood surrounding stylish Northwest 23rd Avenue offers an abundance of terrific shopping and choice eats. In the Northwest neighborhood (also known as Nob Hill or the Alphabet District), century-old Victorian and Craftsman-style storefronts housing unique boutiques stand alongside national retailers, interspersed with coffee shops and on-trend restaurants and bars. In short, it’s a shopper’s paradise.

Pass By: Pearl District, 404 NW 10th Ave # LL1, Portland, OR 97209-3184

Loading docks and cobblestone streets hint at this former warehouse district’s past, while stylish bars and gleaming lofts point toward the future. The Pearl District was formerly occupied by warehouses, light industry, and railroad classification yards and now noted for its art galleries, restaurants, upscale businesses, and high-rise residences along with lofts that were converted from warehouses.

Stop At: Lan Su Chinese Garden, 239 NW Everett St, Portland, OR 97209-3957

Lan Su Chinese Garden is one of Portland's greatest treasures. Built by Chinese artisans from our sister city Suzhou (home of China's famous ancient gardens), it's among the most authentic Chinese gardens outside of China. Much more than just a beautiful garden, Lan Su is a creative wonder—a powerfully inspiring experience based on a 2,000-year-old Chinese tradition that melds art, architecture, design and nature in perfect harmony.

Once inside the garden's walls, you'll feel as if you've traveled through time to another era in a faraway world. Lan Su is a window into Chinese culture, history and way of thinking. Ever changing, Lan Su always has something new to offer—by the minute, by the hour, and with the seasons. Enter the wonderland.

Phil our tour guide was excellent! He had a lot of information to share and answered many questions! He also recommended some scenic by ways we could take on the rest of our trip. We really appreciated being picked up right at our hotel lobby!

Our morning tour of Portland was informative and fun. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and obviously loved this city and the area. The Pittock Mansion and the rose garden were especially beautiful. This was a good overview of Portland and what the city has to offer.

We did the Best of Portland City Morning Tour in early August. Let me tell you, we had a great time! Our tour guide Phil was amazing. His boundless energy and sparkling personality were an added plus. He provided much historical and current knowledge of this very nice city. I recommend doing the tour at the start of your visit as it grounds you in many ways. You get a feeling for how the city is laid-out, what's available to do and other helpful hints. I highly recommend this tour and it fully deserves 5 stars. You'll be fortunate if Phil is your tour guide, you won't be disappointed. Thanks!
