About this activity
Get inside in the heart of the Douro Valley and have the opportunity to discover wonderful places and to let yourself be amazed with all the beauty around. The Cruise to Régua gives you the chance to get inside in one of the oldest regions in the world.

Enjoy a gorgeous train trip and see all the amazing landscapes returning by a beautiful cruise through the Douro Valley, witch was recognised since 2001 as a World Heritage Site. The day starts at 8:30am in S.Bento Railway Station, one of the most important monuments of Porto, before starting the journey you will have the opportunity to admire the traditional tiles inside the station that tells all its history.

In a fantastic train trip* begin your journey to Régua where you will be able to appreciate the grace presented by the Douro Valleys landscapes. After a wonderful trip, you'll arrive around 11:00am in Régua, known as the first demarcated wine regions in the world.

After a brief walk from the train station to the quay in Régua, you'll make your way onto the boat. The cruise to Porto starts at 11:30, and you'll be on your way to your adventure through the valleys with astonishing views, see the purity of nature and embrace the sensations of being inside of the Douro wine regions, because there's no other way to get such a wonderful view. Please note: during the cruise a lunch will be served on board around 12pm.

After lunch, and during the afternoon, you'll sail until the group reaches the Carrapatelo Dam, which has a gap of 114 feet (35 meters). After that, continuing along the river to a second dam, named as Crestuma-Lever, with a gap of 46 feet (14 meters). After crossing the two dams, enjoy the serenity of the Douro River, appreciate the refinement of the landscapes, and the beauty of the valley in a fascinating and memorable cruise, arriving in Porto in the evening around 6pm.

Excellent tour and well organized. It was just what we wanted to do. I didn't want to drive or stay overnight. This was perfect and we met interesting people on the boat.

Good tour to enjoy the river. It was hard to understand the tour guide and all guides speak more than one language, so they will repeat the same thing 3 times which is not good for us because there are a lot to see and we missed a lot of things because they say it 3 times and not enough time to explain everything you see. Most of tours in Portugal like that.

Relaxing tour with train and lunch on boat. Three course lunch with ample of wine. Food was very good. Relaxing six hour cruise on the Douro back to Porto. Two very interesting locks to pass!

We made the reservations through Viator. A company called Barcadouro called the day before to confirm where and what time we should meet. The tour begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Sao Bento Train Station. The train ride to Ragua was scenic and interesting. We were given an hour to walk around, get something to eat, and then we boarded the boat ride back to Porto which was a leisurely 6 hour cruise downstream. The ride on the barge included a nice, leisurely lunch with a bottle of wine per couple. You can ask for beer if not a wine drinker. The photo ops and vistas off the barge were the best.

An excellent trip and well organized, a lovely cruise down the river. The only thing I would change is lunch served maybe an hour later. Lunch was served straightway as we passed the vineyards so missed not being on deck able to take in the views.

Really enjoyed the train and boat trip into the Douro Valley. We did not have the best of weather but nevertheless it was a great opportunity to enjoy a very good lunch while on a lovely river, passing by beautiful vertical vineyards and small towns. Pay close attention to the tour guide when boarding the train at Porto, Sao Bento station. Otherwise, it was easy to navigate through the event. Service on the boat was great. A good family activity. I would like to go again on a sunny day.
