About this activity
Start your tour around 08h30 am and explore the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site because wine has been produced here by traditional landholders in the for some 2,000 years. The oldest demarcated region of the world where outstanding wines, including Port Wine are produced.

You will be picked up from the meeting point or picked you up from you hotel in Porto or Vila Nova de Gaia (if option selected) and drive through the Douro Valley to Galafura, a small village in the heart of the Douro Valley.

Our first stop is in Amarante. This city becomes very important in history after S. Gonçalo´s arrival (1187-1259) - one of the most renowned saints in the cristian history. He settled himself here after his pilgrimage through Rome and Jerusalem making this city an important religious stop in Portugal. You may visit the convent and church, but also its beautiful bridge and Historical Center.

Continue this trip to Galafura, the next stop! Galafura is a small village near Peso da Régua.

On the way stop to see The Miradouro de São Leonardo de Galafura near Covelinhas, parish of Galafura. From the top of its 640 meters high you have a privileged view over the river Douro and the surrounding landscape. This is one of the highlights of your day! Make sure you take your camera and don´t miss anything!

You will also find here a geodesic landmark as this is the highest place in the area.

After all the contemplation it´s time for a fantastic lunch in a family owned restaurant where food is homemade and drinks during lunch are also included.

The tour continues to Pinhão one of the most beautiful and charming villages of this region. Stop for a scenic relaxing cruise (an hour panoramic cruise). The views to the vineyards offered are just gorgeous! Enjoy!

End your day with a fantastic visit to a local wine estate (we usually visit a renowned brand), where you will have the opportunity to also taste wine and learn a lot about how the precious Port Wine is grown.

The tour ends in Porto 6:30pm.

Gorgeous views from the bus, boat and the top of the mountain. Fun and knowledgeable tour guide Dianna. Visit to a quaint town with a beautiful historical church. Nice lunch. What more could you ask for?

The tour was very well organized and the communication via email and text message was very good. Everything was on time. The mini-bus was in pristine condition and it was generally very nice. The tour guide seemed a bit anxious to get us to places on time and to tick all the boxes on the itinerary but it was generally a very pleasant experience.

After a slow start (one of the guests got on wrong bus) - this was frustrating, mostly because we were told 5 minutes and they were almost 30 minutes late. After that, Claudia the guide was professional and knowledgeable and catered to everyone - she did an excellent job. A fabulous mixed tour of stops with an enjoyable lunch. Highly recommended.

Trip was great. The variety of history and wine making information made this a very interesting day. Did not feel rushed at all and had time to stretch our legs and take in several sites since it was a distance to the Douro wine country. Lunch was delicious and very hearty. Our guide for the day, Daniel, was quite knowledgeable and did everything possible to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. And our driver was fantastic - he maneuvered the bus through narrow streets and heavy traffic in ways that seemed impossible. Well worth the time and money spent.

Overall the tour was great, and the guide was excellent. The tour started a bit late since the pick up in the morning was running late (picking people from around the city, with heavy traffic). It would have been better to meet everyone at a more central point rather than waiting with the bus so far away. The first stop point was nice but wasn't the very interesting in my opinion (the church with the saint). Overall the tour was great, lunch was very nice, and so were the boat on the river and the wine tour.

Our tour was on French ans English, you get to meet people the world over. They phone you a Day before tout confirm Weso make sure you have an international plan. We saw a lot and it was great if like me, you want to see Douro without drinking. But yes, wine was served for lunch and you get to taste Port wine.

This was an excellent full day excursion to the Duoro Valley. It included a stop in the morning, lunch, wine tour and tasting and ended with a cruise on the river in the sunshine. Daniel was our guide and was attentive and well informed. Great value for the money!

This tour was excellent way to see the Douro Valley. We visited smaller towns, saw beautiful scenery and countryside of the terraced fields and hillsides. Lunch was great and plenty of tasty food and wine. We shared a van with very nice group of fellow travelers who were from all different places and ages- about 14 people and it was very comfortable. The tour leader, Christian , was so friendly and had all kinds of information for us about the country and area. Highly recommend this way to see the Valley.

This was the best tour we've ever been on! Our tour guide was great, and the knowledge of the local history, wine, grapes, and food was extensive. We also really enjoyed picking grapes off the vines and our lunch was excellent! Well worth taking this tour!
