Guimarães: Half Day Private Tour from Porto

We start this tour at 09h00 in the morning or 14h00 at the afternoon. After a convinient pick up at your hotel on a comfortable air-conditioned minibus we follow towards Guimarães.

Guimarães has its origin from the X century, Your expert guide will tell you all the history behing the city as we reach our first stop: the famous Castle!: Built in the X Century, according to the tradition the Castle was once the home of the Parents of D. Afonso Henriques, First King of Portugal and where he was born as well. The porpuse of the Castle was to deffend the people from the Muslim attacks. From the interior you are able to get a beautifull view for all over the city! Know that Guimarães Castle is from 1910 considered as one for the 7 Wonders of Portugal. 

Trough the beautifull garding that surrounds the area, we reach S. Miguel Chapel, a smal roman church that suposly D. Afonso Henriques was once baptized. 

Next we find the "Paços dos Duques de Bragança", from the XV century, nowadays it works as a museum and the official residence of the President.Tthe entrance is not included but the guide will tell you all the references and curisities about it

Following to the D. Afonso Henriques Statue, dated from 1887, is considered as one of the Kings most emblematic representations!

After, we procced thought the old town, passing by: Largo de S. Martinho, Santa Maria Street, one of the most ancient streets, the city hall, and Santiago Square, here you find buildings from the XVI century that are still inhabitaded nowadays.
