The Codfish Tour
This tour starts at 09h:00am and we set off towards Ílhavo. You start by visiting the sea museum – named for the European Mies van der Rohe Prize and considered by the Arch Daily one of the 20 most spectacular museums in the world – where we`ll see the largest codfish aquarium on the planet.
Next, you will go aboard the old Santo André ship, which is now a museum, and realize how the fishermen lived during cod fishing and the fishing techniques. After so much talk about the cod, it’s time to sit down and enjoy a meal of this delicious delicacy in a traditional restaurant.
After lunch, you`ll wander in Costa Nova: the magnificent fishing village with beautiful colorful striped houses. And finally, the portuguese Venice, Aveiro! You will have the opportunity to take a ride in the traditional boat “moliceiro” through the canals of the Aveiro river and to know a little more about its importance for the history of the city. Afterwards, it comes a walk through the old city to see the fish market, the main emblematic buildings and where you can taste one of the sweet delights of the city: sweet-eggs.
At last, you`ll stop over the old train station to see the beautiful and magnificent art in tiles that adorns its walls and return to your hotel.
