Have you ever heard the name Lidice? Perhaps yes, because the story of this village touches the world. When Czech paratroopers committed the assassination of R. Heindrich, Nazi leaders decided to choose one village as the spot of their revenge, and they erased it from the face of the Earth and from the memories of the people. That village was Lidice, an innocent little hamlet near Prague. So, on 10 June 1942, the village was encircled. All the men were killed, all the women were sent to concentration camps to work, and all the children were evaluated. If a child corresponded with the Aryan type, they were send away for Germanization. The rest were murdered. The village was demolished and erased from the map. The Nazis used the village to display their ability to eradicate and expunge a "lesser" village.
