Stop At: Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre, R513, Brits, Madibeng 0251 South Africa

A captive breeding facility for cheetahs and other endangered animals – The Ann van Dyk/ De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Centre lies in the foothills of the Magaliesberg Mountains, close to the Hartbeespoort Dam – ca 80km/50mi NW of Johannesburg.

The centre’s efforts have resulted in the birth of close to 600 cheetah cubs – an astounding achievement considering the total cheetah population in South Africa was estimated at 700 when the De Wildt breeding program first started.

Since then other rare and endangered animal species have been included in their efforts, such as the African Wild Dog, Brown Hyena, Serval, Suni antelope, blue and red Duiker, Riverine Rabbit, owls and vultures.

Tour coincides with feeding times.
