The Voortrekker Monument, designed by the architect Gerard Moerdijk, is a National Heritage Site. This massive granite structure is prominently located on a hilltop, and was raised to commemorate the Voortrekkers who left the Cape Colony between 1835 and 1854.

Stop At: Union Buildings, Government Avenue, Pretoria 0083 South Africa

Designed and built by Herbert Baker and completed in 1913, the Union Buildings housed the administrative offices of the Union of South Africa. Today it is still the official seat of government and houses the offices of the President of South Africa. The building is made from light sandstone and is over 275m long.

The Apartheid Museum gives a glimpse into the history of Apartheid and what life was like in the 48 years of its existence. We This Museum also illustrates the 20th century history of South Africa. There are other exhibitions inside that the museum that highlight the contribution of various figures in the struggle against Apartheid most notably Nelson Mandela and other stalwarts who became his life long comrades and friends.

The Hector Pieterson Museum and Memorial is located in Orlando West, Soweto, two blocks away from where Hector Pieterson was shot and killed. The museum is named in his honour. It became one of the first museums in Soweto when it opened on 16 June 2002. The Museum also commemorates the students on 1976 who rejected the introduction of Afrikaans as a medium of instruction in their schools and embarked on a historic march on the 16th of June 1976.

Mandela House, is the house on Vilakazi Street, Orlando West, Soweto, South Africa, where Nelson Mandela lived from 1946 to 1962. It is located at number 8115, at the corner of Vilakazi and Ngakane streets, a short distance up the road from Tutu House, the home of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.
