About this activity
Embark on a journey of culture and history in one of the most important museums in Villahermosa. Leaving from your hotel in Villahermosa, the tour starts with direction to La Venta Museum. La Venta Museum was designed by writer Carlos Pellicer Cámara and remodeled in 1994 according to the project of the architect Iker Larrauri. It exhibits a collection of 33 archaeological monuments like altars, wakes and colossal heads (1300-200 B.C.), and around 650 species of living fauna, like mammals, birds and reptiles, besides the representative flora of this tropical region.

You will be able to explore this museum and admire the amazing combination of archaeology and nature. The museum is located on the banks of the Lake of the illusions and has two main areas: zoological and archaeological. The first area will show you animals belonging to this tropical region; while the second area has monumental pieces of the Olmec culture and 33 sculptures that are classified in 3 groups: altars, wakes and colossal heads. Archaeologists moved the site’s most significant finds, including three colossal stone heads, to Villahermosa.

Have a great time as you admire this amazing museum and learn all about the history of the Olmec Culture. Your tour ends with hotel drop-off.
