This peninsula, a fauna and penguin preservation area created in 1979, is home to the most important Magellan penguins colony in Patagonia. Almost one million of these loveable creatures arrive from the Atlantic at this place every year in order to breed, incubate their eggs, and prepare their offspring for migration. Though the first penguins arrive in September and stay until April, the best season to see them is after November, once the babies are born, so this is the perfect opportunity for you to experience the penguins!

The travel agency was very accommodating. We would highly recommend them. The is not much to in terms of scenery on the long, very long, drive from Puerto Madryn to Punta Tombo. If you've seen penguins on another shore excursion already then going to Punta Tombo is not a must at all. Having said that, the proximity to which you can see the penguins is wonderful and the colony is very large. Take some time to explore the area where you buy the ticket.
Excellent tour guide.
The Punta Tombo penguin rookery was amazing. Getting to see so many penguins up close and personal was a fabulous experience. Communication was difficult which limited the educational side. The driver seemed to be very knowledgeable but didn’t speak English, and the interpreter was not very good.
Well worth the effort to go to see thousands of penguins. Being only two in the private tour with a guide/driver that was little or no help during the tour. You would think for the money paid the touring group who would have made more of effort for the 600 plus invested.
Well worth the drive to see penguins living in such an unlikely habitat.
Great excursion to a must see sight. If on a South America cruise rounding Cape Horn and do only one penguin excursion, it has to be this one. very satisfied with Viator's reliability and service
