Samaná Day Trip: Cayo Leventado, El Limon Waterfall and Horseback Riding from Puerto Plata

After hotel pickup by air-conditioned minivan in Puerto Plata, travel southeast to the Samaná wharf for your boat ride to Cayo Levantado, also known as Bacardi Island.
With powdery white sand, palm trees and a soft breeze, the island provides the ultimate beach experience in this slice of paradise. Swim in the turquoise waters of Samaná Bay, and dig into a Caribbean buffet lunch that includes beer and nonalcoholic beverages; other alcoholic drinks can be purchased. Activities like kayaking are available to enjoy at your own expense until it's time to leave.
Cruise back to the mainland for a short city tour of Santa Bárbara de Samaná, and learn about the small but bustling port town and its malecón (seaside promenade). Then head to a ranch where you'll be paired with a horse for a pleasant ride in El Limón National Park. Follow your guide into a dense jungle along the Arroyo Chico River toward El Limón Waterfall, which cascades 165 feet (50 meters) down into a natural pool. If you're a little dusty or hot from the horseback ride, cool off with a refreshing dip in the water before returning to the stables.
Hop aboard a safari-style truck for an exciting ride with views of the mountains of the Sierra de Samaná, and stop at a typical Dominican agricultural ranch. Your guide takes you on a tour of the lush grounds, showing you fruits and plants native to the Dominican Republic. Along the way, make sure to taste produce and locally made products, such as cacao, coffee, fruits and honey.
Your day on the Samaná Peninsula ends with transport back to Puerto Plata.
