We recently visited Guatemala for one day while on our Panama Canal Cruise. As we did not see any ship excursion we were interested in, we booked the Thermal Circuit and Hot Springs Tour through Viator. Since there were no other participants for this tour, we changed to the Antigua / Thermal Circuit Hot Springs Tour prior to our trip to insure our excursion would not be cancelled. The tour itself was excellent. Although we would have preferred more time at the Hot Springs thus the initial reservation, our time in Antigua was fine and was rather interesting so we were glad we did get a brief tour of this city. I would have rated this trip at least a 4 or 5 star for the tour itself and our guide, however the overall process we experienced was not the greatest. Viator / Greyline the company that actually provides the tour has a policy to wait 45 min after the pick up time. OUr pick up time was at 7:50 AM however our ship did not dock until 8 AM. This gave us a little concern however after contacting Greyline via email, since we were the only ship in port, they felt we would have adequate time to make our tour. There were 3 groups with reservations for our tour. My husband and I were one group, another couple was another group and then there was a group of 8 which consisted of several adult family members. My husband and I and the other couple, made an extra effort to disembark from the ship as soon as allowed and were waiting with out guide before 8:30. The family group kept coming and going and by 8:45 still did not have all their members present. As per policy, our guide told them he would give them a few more minutes but could not wait much longer otherwise the tour would be late. After waiting yet another 5-10 min, he finally called the Greyline office and informed them the tour was leaving although not all of the 8 family members were present. Unbelievably, he was told to wait for all members! We waited almost a full hour never leaving for our tour until almost 10 AM! This cut our tour short. On top of that, this family not only made us late, but made us wait at every stop prolonging everything we did. He made it very difficult for our guide who was trying to keep us on time. He did get permission to extend our time at the Hot Springs a little longer since we had time before having to be back on the ship, however this cut our shopping time at the port shops. Had Greyline stuck to their policy, I would have rated this tour 5 stars. Given the poor execution of their waiting policy, this dampened our spirits during the tour as this family was very inconsiderate and at times rude to our guide. I highly recommend this tour, Viator was great for the reservation, however if this wait policy had been enforced, this would have been an awesome experience!

Just got back from my Panama Canal cruise that included a stop in Puerto Quetzal. Took a tour bus to the Spa. We had the MOST FANTASTIC experience at the spa. WOW, it was great. Viator bus tours was right at the port as we got off the ship and sent 5 of us off in a van to the Spa for our full day there. The driver was a driver only and did not give us any information along the drive. But we did not pay for a narrated tour so that was fine. We only paid for the day at the Spa. When we arrived, we had a fully escorted tour of the facility for the 3 of us. We paid first and then off to get on our bathing suits for the Thermal Circuit. it was incredible. Also their facilities are amazing very clean and not what you would expect after seeing the neighborhood as you drive to the facility. During the Thermal Circuit, we were served a fruit smoothie that was delicious. Then the 3 of us went our separate ways for our massages. When we were all done, we were escorted to a patio and our pre-ordered lunch was served. The food was very good. Then off to get our facials and salt scrubs. What great experiences. And after all that, we showered and changed back into our clothes. It was only a short time until another large van came to get us and take us back to the port in plenty of time prior to the ship leaving. This was a marvelous experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone. My only negative or perhaps just a word of caution is that they are not really equipped for handicapped. In one of the pools, there was no handrails and there are many up and down steps.
