About this activity
We start our day with a visit to the cocoa plantation with old plant varieties which are not resistant to pests, then to a plantation of tree species that are resistant to local pests. Afterward, we visit the Chocolate Museum where you can see an old cocoa dryer which was formerly used, in addition to sun drying equipment and cocoa fermenters. You will also have the opportunity to see how chocolate is made and best of all, taste the finished product! We will also visit a museum of Afro-Caribbean culture and learn about the people that founded and recreated this place. A visit to a palm ranch is next on the list of activities. The palm ranch is rich in indigenous plants that were used by shamans and indigenous healers. Inside the house is a museum where we can observe the indigenous tombs and the kitchen that they used to use. After this visit, we will end up in a garden of orchids and bromeliads to end this attraction. We continue our journey with a visit to the Jaguar Rescue Center located in Cocles. This center was created to rehabilitate mistreated, injured and confiscated animals from all over the country and to reintroduce them to their natural environment in protected areas. During your visit, you will be in direct contact with wild cats, monkeys, sloths, raccoons, anteaters, marsupials, reptiles, amphibians, etc. All these animals live at the center in semi-captivity, waiting the moment when they will be released in order to face life in their natural habitat. After finishing the visit to the Jaguar center we go back to the hotel.
