Day 1: Puno – Uros Floating Islands – Amantani homestay
We will pick you up from your respective hotel in Puno and transfer you to the boat pier in Puno. At 7.45 AM we will get on our Motor boat to the world-famous floating islands of the Uros people. We will take a guided tour of these reed islands and learn about their history and culture with the help of a knowledgeable local guide.
At 10.30 AM we get back on our ferry and cruise the highest navigable lake in the world to reach the Island of Amantani. You arrive there at around 1.30 PM and you will meet and greet your host family upon arrival. They will show you your place for the night and after this they will serve you a typical lunch prepared with natural ingredients. In the afternoon you will spend time altogether with them sharing stories and taking part in intercultural activities and games. You can also decide to take a 1-hour uphill hike to the temple of Pachatata viewpoint to enjoy spectacular views of the sunset over the lake. Dinner will be served at around 7 PM at the local house. In the evening you can join in group performances with dances and music. Overnight on the island.

Day 2: Amantani – Taquile Island – Puno – Cusco
Stop At: Taquile Island, Puno, Puno Region
We have breakfast with the family and say goodbye to them. We get on our ferry and continue our journey to the Taquile Island, and start a 45-min hike to the main square. Here we will learn about the textile art and traditions of this place, part of the UNESCO World Heritage. At around midday we will have lunch. Our boat to Puno leaves at 1.30 PM, arriving at 4 PM. You will be dropped off at your hotel.

We had a great time on this tour. You need to call the number and arrange a pickup from your hotel or hostel. We got a bit of a late start, but that was no problem. We enjoyed the boat ride, and the views from the lake. The islands were great to visit, and our host family was very kind and the rooms were comfortable. The cost is a bit more than if you book locally though, and other tours that were cheaper(booked through the hostel I was at) included lunch the second day, while this one does not.
