From that point, we'll hit the Caribbean Sea on a speedboat and slowly cruise you back to the mainland on a spacious catamaran or the other way around. Oh, there’s also music, entertainment and open bar (rum...). This is the Caribbean Sea folks.

Stop for a while at the stunning natural pool and enjoy a sandbar, far from the coast with clear, waist deep water. "Rum and coke" is served while you are there and may find a starfish or two at your feet. We hope this sounds ok to you...

The blue lagoon and Saona are amazing but the whole time you feel like you are treated as a horde of tourist: buy this, tip here although guide did not provide any info and felt like they wanted to squeeze in as many tourists as they could.

We booked this trip online before going and my boyfriend got so sick that we missed our pick up on the day of the booking. I called and the tour operator was so nice, offering the next day as an option to go without extra charges, fees, or any hassle. Our tour operator was amazing! He spoke three different languages on the ride giving everyone a short history lesson on DR. The group was diverse and we made pickups at two other places before heading out. The Catamaran was so much fun, it was interesting to watch everyone get on, take a seat, and once the drinks were poured how those same people loosened up and began schmoozing and dancing and enjoying themselves! The island, Saona, was beautiful! The lunch was okay nothing special but the water was clear and blue and the sun was our friend! The ocean bottom was a little rocky with some shells but once you got past that little area, it was genuinely lovely! The ride back on the speedboat was great! Overall, this excursion was so much fun, it was a party, and it was relaxing at the same time! I would definitely book this excursion again!

My husband and I had mixed feelings about this tour. Saona Island was absolutely beautiful. After arriving, we ate a delicious lunch right away. Local beer and rum and cokes were provided free of charge. We then had a couple of hours to swim and relax. The beach was perfect and the water was calm that day. My husband and I spent the entire 2 hours enjoying the water. The kicker for us with this excursion was the wait times and lack of organization. After getting picked up from our hotel, we drove for about 15 minutes before our van driver pulled over. We sat in the van on the side of the road for 15-20 minutes while the driver talked on the phone and did not seem to know what was going on. We finally started driving again and joined several other vans to merge our groups onto a large bus. The drive to the beach lasted a little over an hour. There were hundreds and hundreds of people waiting on the island for a speedboat or catamaran to take them to the island. We were supposed to ride a catamaran, but after waiting well over an hour, we were told that there were no more catamarans. Everyone was frustrated, anxious, and tired of standing in the hot sun. Our huge group 60 people was split into 3 groups and loaded onto 3 speed boats to head to the island. We stopped at the natural pool on the way to Saona island to swim for awhile. The natural pool was gorgeous and a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the guides purposely anchored our speedboats in areas without starfish. I'm assuming this was so that we weren't all grabbing starfish and potentially harming them. After leaving Saona island, we were able o get a catamaran for the way back. It was not worth it though because the catamaran was so packed full that we could not enjoy it. Although we completely loved the island and natural pool, this tour was almost ruined by the long wait times and group size that was way too large!
