1 day
About this activity
We will collect you from your hotel at 9am and head out of town to Indian Creek, around 30-45 minutes from Punta Gorda. We will meet our highly experienced tour guide on site to explore the beautiful Nim Li Punit Mayan Ruins. Nim Li Punit, meaning "The Big Hat" gains its name from one of the stelae at the site. Nim Li Punit is regarded as a ceremonial center consisting of two plazas, one higher than the other. There are 25 stelae of which 8 are carved. The concentration of so many stelae makes this a unique site. It is set at the foothills of the Maya Mountains and boasts spectacular views.

Next you will be greeted by Concepciona and her happy team at Yum Kax Womens co-operative. You will learn traditional skills such as cacao grinding, basket weaving, tortilla making and how to make the Mayan Cuxtal bags, accompanied by a traditional lunch.
Once completed we head to San Pedro Columbia to explore the Lubaantun Mayan ruins."Lubantuun" meaning "place of fallen stones", is famous for the legendary crystal skull, discovered back in the 1920s. Set on a hilltop in beautiful countryside this site is believed to have some of the finest Masonry work in the Mayan world. The site is home to several burial tombs, and was believed to be an administrative centre used for sacred festivities and ceremonies. You will stop by the visitors centre to see a selection of artefacts discovered on the site and to learn more about the crystal skull. Entrance fees and tour guide are included.
Guests are asked to bring a refillable water bottle as water refills will be provided along with fresh fruit snack and of course lunch.

We will drop you back at your hotel or designated place around 4pm.
