This private 7 hour tour focuses on Qingdao Old Town, and the German influence that is still possible to see today. A experienced tour guide will arrange to meet you for collection at your centrally located accommodation at 09.00 am, to begin the days adventure.

Signal Hill Park

The tour will then begin at

Signal Hill Park with a short uphill 15 minute walk to the top will give you the best view of Old Town Qingdao. Its the best viewpoint to get a birds-eye view of red-roofed villas and greenery. Your guide will point out the famous landmarks, many of which we will explore in the walking tour.

Walking Tour of Old City

Although the Germans were only in Qingdao for 15 years, they left behind numerous examples of European-Like buildings, which have been preserved for visitors. To explore these, a 2 hour walking tour will begin from Signal Hill.

Just a short walk to the first stop is the ex-

German Governors Mansion, one of the finest examples of colonial-era architecture, with its distinctive Art-Nouveau style. Built at a extravagant price in 1903, its opulence is still on show - we will take a 30 minute tour of the mansion.

Shortly after, we will walk towards the

Protestant Church, built in 1908, the picturesque church has a simple yet beautiful design. It's also has a still-working clock mechanic dated 1909. Finally, in the center of the Old Town is

St Michael's Cathedral, iconic for its 60 meter spires, forming part of Qingdao's skyline. Surrounded by cobbled roads, the site is popular with local newly weds - everyday its possible to see dozens of wedding photo-shoots. .

Think its time for a lunch break! Lunch will be at

Pi Chai Yuan local market. Here you'll find an array of interesting and diverse food offerings, and gives an authentic Qingdao dining experience.

Beer Brewery Tour

The biggest legacy of German rule was no doubt the introduction of the famed

Tsingdao Brewary! So, after lunch we will visit the site for a tour of its museum, where there will be free tasters if desired. The museum tells the story of the popularity of this international renowned beer, and will take around 1 hour.

Badaguan

Lastly, a short drive to

Badaguan - 8 Passes neighborhood, an area famed for its coastal location and elegantly designed buildings and roads. The Germans created a coastal resort area for rest and relaxation, and invited guests from all around the world - which explains the array of unique and international architecture on sight. Influences from over 25 regions are visible, ranging from Russian Castle-like 'Huashi Lou' to a Danish 'Princess Palace'. The neighborhood is often named one of the most beautiful in whole of China!
