Half Day Tour and Trek to Fushan Mountain

Your experienced tour guide will arrange to meet you for collection at your centrally located accommodation at 09.00 am, to begin the days adventure. It will take approx. 20-30 minutes drive to the foot of the mountain. Overall, the tour is half-day in length, and takes an average of four hours overall incl. travel time. Along the hike, will be opportunities to stop and take photographs, and explore the many paths.

Within the hike, your professional guide will offer guidance on the best route, and provide information about Qingdao so its an opportunity to learn more about this city. During the trek, it is possible to see many different types of foliage, and depending on time of year, many different colours – offering an abundance of photographic opportunities.

As you ascent the mountain, the views get better and better of the landscape down below. Towards the middle of the trek, you will be able to see the coastline, and the distant Lao Shan Mountain range. Along the route you will get to experience some history among the granite peaks and witness remains of old German bunkers, pillboxes, cave systems – but due to safety we do not recommend entering these. Along the route its also possible to see Buddhist inscriptions in the wall. 

When you reach the peak, a viewing area will provide a stunning vantage point – away from the hustle and bustle of life in the city below. You may take up to 1 hour to take photographs, and relax. Whilst on the peak, your guide will also provide some light refreshments in the form of fruit snacks. It is important to note; a full lunch is not provided. 

The hike back down will take a different route back to the bottom, through Pine Wood forests and winding paths – it will take approx. 45 minutes to descend where the guide will organize and accompany you back to your city center hotel..

Important safety notes

We highly recommend bringing appropriate dress ware to suit the hike – good steady boots/trainers are essential. Also bring appropriate suncare – such has hat, sunglasses and sun lotion if desired. Most important is water, has there is no availability on the mountain. We recommend at least 2 liters but some people may require more. As always, we recommend you have adequate travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances.

Also due to the nature of the climb, it may not be always possible to undertake the hike if the weather is particularly rainy or windy, has many of the paths will be unpassable and could be dangerous. 

The tour takes 3-5 hours, and is classified has a half-day tour. The trek can commence at a time that is most convenient to yourself. But due to safety, we can only undertake the trekking during daylight hours. Therefore, the guided trek can only begin between the hours of 09:00 and 15:30 to ensure we are safely back down before sunset.
