Itinerary

Escape Quebec City for a day, and experience an exciting adventure on the water. Meet us at the central departure point. Meet your guide and board a deluxe motor coach. Travel along the picturesque mountainous coastline of the St Lawrence River to reach Baie-Sainte-Catherine, where you’ll board either the AML Grand Fleuve observation boat or a speedy zodiac for a memorable afternoon of whale-watching.

You will have 2 transportation options for your whale watch: The Grand Fleuve is a large, three-level boat with a glassed main deck, covered upper deck, a bistro/bar. A naturalist will share illuminating facts during your journey. The Zodiac is a small, open-air boat that allows you to zip through the water to enjoy super-close access to whales and marine life. Your captain will provide live commentary on your journey.

Both vessels depart from the north shore of the St Lawrence for an exciting encounter with whales, seals and belugas! Discover the many faces of the St Lawrence River, including the Saguenay–St Lawrence Marine Park, a lighthouse, fascinating islands and an amazing diversity of marine life.

We saw Minka, Beluga and one Humpback! This was our 1st time actually seeing whales. No jumping in the air but they came close to big boat. Only thing i would say is they need not to let people stand on ladder as they block ease of going up and down.

Even when we weren't in the midst of active whale feeding (which was a lot on our particular outing!) the cruise itself was very enjoyable. Comfortable boat, enough space for everyone to not feel crowded, and beautiful scenery!

This was an excellent adventure with Yves as our bus tour guide. The zodiac is definitely the best way to see the whales. We were very happy with the entire experience!

Great excursion. Prompt pickup at Chateau Frontenac. Driver Alain was a great ambassador for Quebec City. Stopped at a local cheese factory for a rest beak. Discovered one of the BEST cheeses ever! And we saw four different types of whales. Incredible...

Excellent driver provided information along the route about the area and the whales. The whale watching was well organised and informative. We saw three different types of whales and the skipper made every effort to get as close as possible. There are no formal eating areas at the site so it is best to bring food for the day. The driver does stop at a dairy where you can buy some sandwhiches, cheese and preserves to make your own but options are limited.

Although it was a long day, it was enjoyable. We were fortunate with the weather and it wasn't to rough. We did manage to see a mother whale with her baby, plus several belugas and a seal same along side the boat. We were picked up at our hotel by our coach driver Yves, who was excellent and very informative. Would definitely recommend.
