About this activity
Itinerary

Pack a whole lot of action and a huge amount of memories into half a day.

The trip begins at the Adventure Centre in Queenstown where you’ll meet the guides in our departure lounge.

Then, it’s a 10 minute drive to our base to be fitted with canyoning gear.

Following a safety briefing, your guides will lead the group through beautiful, ancient beech forest to the start of the canyon.

We descend and explore the canyon by zip line, abseiling (rappelling) waterfalls, slides, plunging into natural pools, floating down narrow passageways and cascading down chutes – all in beautiful natural surroundings.

It’s an awesome and exhilarating feeling. You can choose the level of challenge you want throughout the trip – our guides can provide easier routes and they will instruct you through every adventure!

Then it’s a short drive back to base where you’ll appreciate our investment in heated changing rooms and hot showers.

The Queenstown canyon half day trip is suitable for first-timers to adventure seekers and is a great option for groups and team building. No previous canyoning experience is required but you should be confident in moving water and have a reasonable level of fitness.

This tour was amazing. So much fun, it was adventurous, different and overall worth the time / money. Would highly recommend for anyone who wants to zip line, cliff jump and see a different side to New Zealand.

This adventure was really fun. We are older 51 and 63 and were a little worried about our ability to do this. Also, it was a little cold so we were worried about getting in the water. The company provided wet suits so the cold water wasn't an issue. The guides, Fergus and a wonderful Japanese guy whose name I can't remember sorry, were amazing. They were positive, encouraging, full of energy and quite entertaining. If something was too hard or I was tired they let us pass and found an alternative way down. The scenery was beautiful. The facilities where we changed into and out of the wet suits and equipment were very nice. I just wish I had rented a go pro to prove to our kids that we did this amazing adventure!

This was a really really fun experience, BUT the water is just WAY TOO cold in Queenstown to fully enjoy it. I've gone canyoning in Dominican Republic, and it was a 100 better experience. You had one wet suit and the water was warm. But because the waters are so cold here, you are literally layered with maybe 3-4 wetsuits - socks, shoes, wetsuit, thermal, jacket. After everything is on, I felt like my blood circulation was going to get cut off. I had to close myself and calm myself from having a claustrophobic panic attack I totally understand needing the layers though, it really does keep you warm in the freezing water. I couldn't keep my hands in the water for more than a few seconds - it would get so cold it would feel like needles in your hand. The guides, however, were AWESOME. Young guys, adventurous, and knowledgeable of the area. They were super fun. We had a group of 9 so it was quick getting through each leg. Zip lining, repelling down rocks, slides, and jumps - all a great time :
