Arrowtown and Wanaka Tour from Queenstown

About this activity
Your half-day tour will begin with a pickup from central Queenstown from 10.40am. From here, you will head up the Crown Range road. As New Zealand's highest sealed road, the Crown Range is usually covered in snow in winter and boasts some incredible viewing platforms. You will step out and soak these up and grab a photo or three.
Heading down the Crown range to the Cardrona Valley there is a famous stop to make. Built in 1863 to service gold prospectors, offering them accommodation, and a place to stop and seek refreshment, is Cardrona Hotel. It is one of New Zealand's oldest pubs, and possibly the most well-known. Pop in and explore, and we'll shout you a beer or non alcoholic ginger beer to enjoy in the beer garden or by the fire.
Travel to Wanaka, historically used by Maori as a pathway to greenstone sites and later by goldminers, today Wanaka has branded itself as a lifestyle reserve, surrounded by huge mountains and massive glaciers. You will be lead to the Reflection Tree, which grows within the lake. No matter what season it is, this tree will always make for great photos.
Then, have one hour of free time to wander Wanaka at your whim, maybe you'll look around the shops, sit and have an icecream by the lake, or go for a walk along the lake path; the choice is yours. This is also a good time to grab some lunch at a nice local café.
Next you will be taken to the historic Arrowtown. The town was popular for gold mining in the 1860’s with gold prospectors traveling from both Europe and China to try their luck.
You'll walk among the tiny restored cottages of their settlement and wander down the main street of this exquisite little town with its charming historic buildings that will make you feel like you walked on to a movie set
You day will finish with a short scenic drive back to central Queenstown returning between 4.30 and 5pm

Queenstown is breathtaking and anyone traveling to NZ should never miss it! It’s one of my most favorite places and would surely comeback if I have a chance. Kathy, our tour guide was excellent... she knows a lot about the places and had a lot of ahhhhaaaaa moments with her. She takes amazing pics as well.. she’s also a real estate person so you’ll get a glimpse of the housing there which I found interesting. she even found time to return my scarf and gloves when I forgot it in the van. We were well taken cared of and highly recommends her to any visiting folks! Thank you Kathy! Such a joy to be in your company!
Really enjoyed this tour. The half day was perfect to see both Arrowton and Wanaka.
Relaxing and very enjoyable half day tour, with a good tour guide and was made a lot better because the weather was fantastic, Lake Wanaka is very impressive and Arrowtown very quaint old town, with ample time to explore before the return trip back to Queenstown.A cold beer in the gardens of the Cardronna Hotel NZs oldest hotel in 28 degrees was welcolmed, a week later they had 30cm of snowfreak snow storm
Our tour guide was great! A must for visiting Queenstown, got to see many sights.
I actually ended up on the Full Day tour that is a loop. No one had signed up for the halfday, so it was either cancel or do the whole day. Turned out to be a great decision to take the full day tour. Wayne was fabulous, provided lots of information, plenty of jokes and kept us going the whole day. I enjoyed seeing the sites in the Queenstown region and nearby towns.
