Stop At: Mashpi Lodge, Reserva Privada Mashpi, Mashpi 150150, Ecuador

Around 08:00 AM you will be picked up at one of the big hotels in Quito in a comfortable van with other travelers. You will start driving North and on the way you will stop a couple of times to take pictures of the beautiful nature. You will also make a stop at the Tulipe archeological site to get to know something about the ancient cultures.

Around 12:00 PM you will arrive in the lodge where you will be welcomed with a cocktail. Checkin will be facilitated and afterwards you can enjoy a big lunch buffet with national and international dishes. In the afternoon you will receive your first lecture about the lodge, the different experiences and your personal activity planning will be designed based on your wishes. It is possible that you visit the “Life Center” where you find a lovely butterfly garden and a birdwatching terrace. The short hike to get there takes 25 minutes and the “long” hike about 50 minutes. Underway you will watch the beautiful cloud forest.

At night you have an informal lecture of about 30 minutes. Afterwards you can do the night-hike, here you can find spiders, snakes, frogs and other species. From 19.30 PM on a delicious 3 course a la carte dinner will be served and you can usually choose between 3 or 4 options for starters and main course.

At approximately 06.30 AM the first activity starts which is birdwatching. Your English speaking guide will explain about how to use the binoculars, how to take nature pictures and if you’re lucky you can spot some (endemic) birds or mammals. From 07:00 – 09:00 AM breakfast buffet is served with the best orange juice and cappuccino’s. The activities you’ll do depend a lot on your wishes; you can go hiking, swim at the waterfalls, go into the “Dragonfly” which takes you in about 1,5 hours from the lodge all the way over the cloudforest in a cable cart, go to the hummingbirds garden, go “air-biking”, visit the science center or you can just relax in the spa.

In the morning you have again time for all types of activities. At around 11.00 AM you have your check out and your shared transportation drives you back in about 3,5 hours to Quito. Drop off at one of the big hotels in Quito.
