Itinerary

Day 1: COTOPAXI HIKING

Stop At: Cotopaxi National Park, Ecuador
In the morning, you’ll drive from Quito to the Cotopaxi National Park, passing along the gorgeous Avenue of Volcanoes, and then, you will hike around the lagoon of Limpiopungo which has the most amazing view of the Cotopaxi, the highest active volcano in the world. Furthermore, depending on the weather conditions you may try to trek the basecamp at 16000 ft (486.8 mt). After lunch, you will drive to Llanganates National Park, which is also known as the sacred mountain, until you’ll reach Baños, located at the entrance of the Amazon. There, you can enjoy the best nightlife by drinking cocktails and dancing salsa.

Day 2: BIKING AT THE LLANGANATES NATIONAL PARK

Stop At: Llanganates National Park, Pillaro, Ecuador
The first activity of the day will be mountain biking from the Llanganates National Park down to the Pastaza River Canyon, and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the cloud forest. While descending into the jungle, you will have a breathtaking view of Baños, that is very well known for its spectacular location right on the foothills of the Tungurahua volcano. In the afternoon, you will have some time to explore the town by yourself and also visit the “Swing at the End of the World”.

Day 3: ROAD OF THE WATERFALLS – CANYONING IN THE AMAZON

Stop At: Pailon del Diablo (Devil's Cauldron), Rio Verde - 18Km From Banos, Banos Ecuador
Today you will hit the road of the waterfalls. The first stop will be at the Bride’s Veil waterfall, where you will take the “Tarabita” (cable car) to get across the Pastaza River. Then, it is time to hike down to the “Pailon del Diablo” waterfall, the second highest in whole Ecuador. After that, you will hike through the tropical jungle, where you will climb along several waterfall canyons. Your local native guide will tell you more about the incredible nature and wildlife you can admire there.

*Note: The accommodation of this day is a very basic. You will have your own room, but will have to share the bathroom. There is no electricity in the room, but there is a social area where you can charge your batteries.

Day 4: JATUNYACU RIVER RAFTING – VOLCANIC HOT SPRINGS

Stop At: Jatunyacu River, Cesar Augusto rueda y 15 de Noviembre In fron of the Ministerio de Turismo, Tena 150150 Ecuador
Your fourth day will begin with a session of rafting on the “Jatunyacu” River. After a safety briefing from your rafting guides, you will start your class III rafting expedition down the Jatunyacu River, well known for its clean water and awesome rapids. At the end of the paddling journey, you will enjoy a picnic prepared by your guides. You conclude the day with a drive back up to the Andes, stopping by the “Guango” Reserve to visit a paradise of hummingbirds. Finally, you’ll go to Papallacta where you will have the chance to relax in volcanic hot springs. Here you will spend the night.

Day 5: HIKING THE CLOUD FORREST – OTAVALO MARKET

Stop At: Otavalo Market, Plaza de los Ponchos, Otavalo 100450 Ecuador
In the morning, you will explore the cloud forest nearby the Cayambe Coca Ecological Reserve. During this activity, you can appreciate the flora that includes colorful orchids, and if you are lucky, you will observe beautiful birds too. After a stop by the equatorial line where you can stand in both hemispheres at the same time, you will visit Otavalo and its amazing indigenous handicraft market. Here you will interact with the local people and learn the traditional way of living while sharing the daily activities with the families. In the evening, you will be transferred to the hacienda, enjoy a welcoming cocktail and have a delicious and authentic dinner.

Day 6: TREKKING THE LOOP OF CUICOCHA CRATER LAKE – BACK TO QUITO

Stop At: Laguna Cuicocha, Cotacachi 100450 Ecuador
After breakfast, your challenge will be a 5-hour hike around the Cuicocha crater lake located in Cotacachi-Cayapas ecological reserve. Along the trail, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the active volcano and the amazing valleys. On this trek, you will reach an altitude of 11470 ft (3496 mt.) and hike 7.5 miles around the crater.
 After that, you will take a boat to the center of the crater where you will see the volcano activity in the form of bubbles coming up. In the afternoon, you’ll drive back to Quito, where your Multisport Ecuador tour ends.
