Itinerary

A gentle walk around the Bridge, St. Sampson's Guernsey's 2nd largest shopping centre and harbour.

We will be walking from the North side to the South side.

Starting from the Vale Castle I will be talking about:-

The Bridge's history. The islands quarrying industry and how it influenced the development of the harbour.

How electricity was introduced to the locals

Churches and the start of Christianity in the island

Shops and businesses as they were and as they are now.

I will also point out the influence of the Germans during the Occupation of the island in 1940 to 1945. The joining of the 2 islands and the difference it made to the safety of the islanders.
