The palace owes its name to its T-shaped form ("tau" in Greek), a name that was first recorded in 1131, and is now home to an exceptional collection of treasures, dating from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, and including sculptures, tapestries, costumes, ornaments, and gold and silver artefacts.
