About this activity
Day 1: The Golden Circle, Fridheimar & Secret Lagoon/Fontana Spa
You will be picked up from your accommodation in Reykjavik and driven to the Thingvellir national park. At Thingvellir, Iceland's parliament, Althingi was established in the year 930, making it the oldest working parliament in the world. Thingvellir is also our first national park, it is on Unesco's list of world heritage sites. A beautiful area where you can witness with your own eyes the effect that the tectonic plates have on the terrain and landscape that they go through. After Thingvellir, we head towards Gullfoss waterfall of waterfalls where we spend some time viewing the beauty of this waterfall. We head towards Geysir hotspring area, we make a quick stop on the way to say hello to very nice horses. After Geysir, we head for lunch at Fridheimar, tomato farm & restaurant. At Fridheimar you get to try the world's best tomato soup along with a dessert of your own choice. After lunch, we will either go to the Fontana Spa or the Secret Lagoon to relax. At the end of a good day we head towards our very nice country hotel where we spend the night.
Day 2: South Coast, Glacier walk and Black Sand Beach
On the second day we start by seeing the amazing Seljalandsfoss waterfall followed by it's neighbor, Skogafoss. Both of these waterfalls are extremely beautiful and amazing to see. We do a glacier hike for 2 hours and then we head for the Black Sand Beach. That beach at Reynisfjara is truly a force of nature. The ocean is eating away the land while the volcanoes are constantly making more. There are plenty of birds, puffins during summer and the rock formations are endless. When we get hungry we head over to Vik and sit down for a nice lunch. After lunch we head back to Reykjavik but on the way we make a stop at the Lava Center to see a movie about the geology of Iceland and then we take a look at the interactive exhibition were we learn everything about Icelandic geology, volcanoes and earthquakes.
