About this activity
Passengers should arrive at our office at the harbor 30 minutes before their booked trip starts so they get their gear. We provide every passenger with protective clothing; float suit and life jacket. We have equipment for children from up to one years old. The float suit is warm, however we recommend you to bring a hat and gloves. It is also best to wear sneakers or hiking shoes on the trip – we don’t recommend high heels or sandals.
We sail by the islands and sherries in Vestmannaeyjar and inform you about their rock formations, history and sagas from them. You will get historical facts and get to know the wildlife, puffins, auks, fulmars, seaguls, eiders, gannets and even seals and whales.
We’ll see the largest rock formated auk's head in the world, the cannon ball from the Turkish abduction in 1627 and the largest elephant head in the world in Dalfjall. We’ll also visit everal sea caves and in Súlnasker we might even try to sail through the island. The sea cave are amont others Klettshellir, which is mostly known for its perfect acoustics and Kafhellir in the island Hæna.
Súlnasker is inhabited by thousands of birds among them puffin, black bird, seagulls, fulmar, sea ravens and eider. But of course the queen of the island is the gannet and the name of the island stems from her Gannet skerry (IS: Súlnasker). A lot of killer whales swim around the island, mostly in June and its amazing to see the gannets dive for fish in between the whales.
We do not recommend you to go on a trip if you have back problems or are pregnant as the boat is riding on waves and it can be bouncy. The trips can be dependent on weather and if it is really windy we do not sail, and you wouldn't want to sail either. We will try to find then another time in collaboration with you or repay you in case that is not possilble.
We are truly looking forward for having a blast with you.
