Multi-Day Adventure in Iceland

8 days
About this activity
Discover the uninhabited interior highlands, Europe's last true wilderness, a landscape of stark, desolate and raw beauty. Enjoy cinematic vistas of seemingly infinite gravel plains, glacial rivers and lava fields punctuated by ice caps, volcanoes, and jagged mountains. The tour includes a boat trip on Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, a monster truck expedition on Langjökull glacier and a visit deep inside one of the world's largest man-made ice caverns.
• Day 1: The Flybus shuttle takes you to Reykjavík where you spend the first night.
• Day 2: 9am meet your tour guide and head to the Reykjanes Peninsula. First stop, the famous Blue Lagoon. Later, continue to Grænavatn and explore Krýsuvík. Then travel south and around 5 pm take a ferry ride to the Westman Islands and spend the night.
• Day 3: Explore the town of Heimaey and its extraordinary island. The afternoon is free to wander around the town before you travel with the ferry to the mainland and a long bus journey takes you to Skaftafell.
• Day 4: Start with a visit to Jökulsárlón lagoon and enjoy an amphibian boat ride. Later, visit the turf church at Hof. Spend time at Europe’s second largest national park and Europe's largest glacier. Hike up to the waterfall Svartifoss. Overnight in Skaftafell.
• Day 5: First stop, Fjaðrárglúfur Canyon before heading to the town Vík and the world-famous Reynisfjara shore. Travel along the famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier and volcano and visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall. End the day at the new Lava Centre. Next two nights in Hveragerði.
• Day 6: First explore Gullfoss, the beautiful double "Golden Falls". Afterward, head into the Icelandic Highlands. The Kerlingarfjöll rhyolite mountain massif is colorful and rich. Spend 2 hours hiking the area. In the evening visit the geothermal area of Geysir, where Strokkur, "the churn", spouts up to 25 meters every 5-10 min. Overnight in Hveragerði.
• Day 7: Travel to Þingvellir National Park before heading to Kaldidalur, a gravel mountain road that takes us to Húsafell in West Iceland for a once-in-a-lifetime tour to visit the man-made ice tunnel and caves on one of Europe's largest glaciers, Langjökull. Included: 8-wheel drive monster truck expedition on the glacier. Later, visit the magnificent Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. The final stop is at Deildartungahver before reaching Reykjavík in the evening where you will spend the final night.
