Glacier Travel Course

During the 3-day course, participants will learn the most important techniques of both glacier travel and roped rescue on glaciated terrain. Topics also include basic mountaineering techniques such as self-arrest and anchor building although most of the effort is on rope systems for partner rescue and self-rescue. Rescue training will be done both on hard ice (dry glacier) as well as on a snow-covered glacier. The course also includes discussions on route planning and glaciology relevant to route planning and an introduction to ice climbing.
