About this activity
You will start the day from Reykjavik, by heading out to the historical Thingvellir national park, where you will stop for about 30 minutes. Besides being a natural wonder it is also the sight where the longest continuously run parliament was founded and still running some good 1.000 years later, but now as Althingi in Reykjavik. You will get a chance to walk between two continental plates, really seeing the earth being ripped apart by amazing forces.
Next, you will head over to Geysir geothermal area where Iceland's most active geyser, Strokkur, can reach the height of around 25 meters, erupting every 10 minutes or so. You will have time to see that happen 1 or 2 times, before it is time to head back on the road.
Next you will visit the mighty Gullfoss waterfall, with is milky water, known mainly for its’ majestic beauty. There you will make a short stop, about 20 minutes, before heading off road, putting the super jeep to the test.
The stop at either Geysir or Gullfoss will be made longer, to offer you the chance to buy a hearty lunch.
The next destination is Langjokull glacier. You will drive through bumpy mountain roads to reach it and then drive around the glacier area for a while. The whole trip to the glacier and back takes around 2 hours, but can take much longer in winter, if conditions are difficult and snow layers are heavy.
You do have the option of adding a thrilling activity to your tour, to make it even more special;
A 1 hour dune buggy tour in the outskirts of Reykjavik, at the end of the day. On this tour you zoom through mud tracks and water and may even get stuck in the snow during winter!
Or a 1 hour snowmobile tour by Langjokull glacier. This is truly the best way to explore the glacier!
This is a truly eventful day and will bring you the best of the best, of this region in Iceland. This tour is operated in super jeeps and always in small groups giving you a unique and personal service through the whole day. You will return to Reykjavik around dinner time.
